Vathers Metal & Concrete is well known in Pietermaritzburg’s Steel Fabrication Industry, with a strong reputation built over four decades. Founded in 2022 by Vashen Vather, the company traces its roots back to the well-known Romillians Welding Works , established in 1986 by Romillian Vather, Vashen’s father.
Our construction experience has a rich historey starting 4 generations ago from the first temple built where liberty Midlands Mall stands today with Annumah Vather to The first cinema in 1886 by Morgan Vather to Specialist Welding and Fabrication works forging precision gates , fencing , Steel structures and once even a 6m Steel Bridge with Romillian Vathers Welding works operating in Pmb . Now Operating as VMC under Romillian & Sons Leadership we have divided deep into steel fabrication specializeing in Steel building construction and Fabrication from Driweway gates , Farming implements , Mezzanie Flooring to Warehouses spanning thousands of meters touching the skys. About VMC Steel Structures Leadership
Ever since his early years even as far back as in primary school Vashen has been with his dad as well as his uncles construction companies learning almost everything from the dirty work to intricacies of structural welding and steel building rigging and errection , with hands on experience and practice on numerous fabrication and construction projects from gate , staricase and burglar proofing multiple flats in Pmb to steel strucutres , mezzanine flooring and concrete installation on numerous residential , commercial and industrial sites including Tastic rice , Meadow feeds & Dhoda carries.
In 2019 Vashen joined Romillians Welding Works, after coming out the warehouse operations industry in Johannesburg returning home eager to build his own legacy. With Vashen keen to continue the steel building side of the business & Romillian nearing retirement, the decision was made to establish Vathers Metal & Concrete a Rebrand of Romillian Welding Works combined with Vashen’s own experice with structural welding , concrete finishing and operations managment for Vashen to pursue his venture under the guidance of his family. Most of the VMC team previously worked for Romillians welding works run by Romillian and Just maintence & construction a company run by Romillians younger brother.
